Standard Size of a Badminton Court

When planning an indoor badminton court, space is a key factor. So, how much space do you need for badminton? According to badminton court specifications, the court’s length should be 13.4 meters, and the width should be 6.1 meters for doubles. For singles, the width is reduced to 5.18 meters.

This space requirement also affects the badminton court lighting setup. To provide proper illumination without casting shadows or glare, it’s essential to place LED lights for badminton courts at optimal heights and angles. Case – Hubei Olympic Center Badminton Court

Take the badminton court at the Hubei Olympic Center as an example. Before using LEDrhythm lighting, the venue had poor lighting with only 350 lux. The Glare Rating was high at 35, and 20% of the lamps needed replacing yearly. Energy consumption was also high at 55 kw/h per hour.

Solution:

We made a special lighting system for it. We used high-brightness and high-uniformity Apollo linear LED lights. And carefully planned the layout and installation.

After transformation:

  • The lights were installed in the venue. The brightness increased to 850 lux. The lighting was more even at 0.75. The glare decreased to 30.
